As you upgrade your Radar you can explore more areas of your map. Unlocking parts of your Archipelago with gold it will reveal new opponents, dive spots and resource islands. When you reveal new parts of your Archipelago you have a chance of revealing treasure chests that contain Diamonds and a victory point or two.
