The Boom Cannon is the Macdaddy of defensive structures. It's damage is seen in full effect when used against stronger troops such as the Tanks and Heavies. When initially attacking a base immediately take out the Boom Cannon with your Barrage or Artillery. Boom Cannons have a longer cooldown time. In that small window, take advantage of that time and take their asses out. Tanks are a great troop to use against Boom Cannons they are capable of avoiding a hit by being on the opposite side of your Headquarters. If you are up against the Headquarters that will leave you susceptible to a hit from the Boom Cannon.

Once you have unlocked all three Boom cannons, using them in you defense is imperative. Placing your Boom Cannons in a triangular formation around your base will give you maximum coverage. Keep'em covered. Using other structures as shield will be most effective and will give full advantage their long range attack as well as buying more time to target attackers.
